REVERSIBLE – long pile for the winter and lighter side for the summer.

An exquisite 1970's vintage, double-sided, Beni Ouarain vintage rug. This is a wonderfully thick and shaggy long pile (a cosy 5cm thick). This handwoven Berber wool rug features a diamond pattern on both sides. Flat weave to one end and chunky tassels to the other.

On the thick pile side, which would be used during the bitterly cold winter months in the Atlas Mountains, the diamond pattern bears an ombré effect – barely visible on one end becoming increasingly darker and more defined to the other. Meanwhile on the lighter, non-shaggy summer side, the near black diamonds are more consistent. Some contain naive tribal motifs.

A rare and unusual piece – rich in tribal charm while maintaining that understated minimal look that makes the benis so popular with designers.
