A beautiful vintage Beni Ouarain rug from the late 1950’s/early 60’s with a bold geometric diamond design. Berber rugs are enshrined in tribal symbolism and this piece does not disappoint! An intricate all-over diamond pattern, believed to ward off evil spirits, each diamond is formed from small squares. One third of the pattern is woven in black, while the other two thirds is detailed in almond brown wool. Each edge features an organic zigzag border. Additionally, there are some orange flecks entwined in the black diamond end. This orange colour is also braided in to the edge before the tassels. This is a relatively light piece rather than very heavy pile.

Traditional in its rectangular shape, this Moroccan rug was produced to fit local architecture and domestic use (rather than for the commercial tourist trade).
