An extraordinary and colourful vintage Azilal rug from the 1980’s. The design is unexpected with its soft red background, more synonymous with Boujad rugs from the Haouz region.

Its wonderful tribal design pivots around organic diamond lozenges to the centre of the piece, which are woven in reds, orange, bright blue, faded turquoise and natural wool… almost a complete colour inversion of more traditional Azilal rug designs. Smaller colour-blocked diamonds run to each edge. This rug is a testament to the weaver’s individual style and, as such, it’s truly wonderful in this irregularity.
