An impressive 1960’s vintage Boujad wool rug in bursts of red, orange and softer pinkish hues. Two large diamonds dominate two thirds of the rug’s design – these are surrounded by abstract tribal motifs that appear to represent the stars and a mountainous landscape with tribal characters and animals featuring in the lower section. You definitely get a real sense of a story here with the scene being set into the weaver’s design. The final third is an expressive array of tangerine mottled squiggles on a pale pinky-peach background. An artistic and beautiful piece of Berber folk art.
