A vintage Boujad rug from the 1970’s, handwoven by Berber tribeswomen in Morocco. An earthy and rustic looking tribal rug with flat weave edges to each end. Its overall design is mottled bands of flecks and wonky oblongs in undyed, natural and dark brown sheep’s wool as well as red. The whole rug jostles with colourful flecked tufts of yellow, orange and bright green. The fringed end (not the tassels) are goat hair, which is much more coarse than the sheep’s wool and helps to strengthen the rug. It’s a really beautiful old Berber rug, in a style that is now rarely found.

An understated yet wholesome Berber rug that could work in a variety of living spaces. Rugs like this were designed for domestic use so they are both warm and hard wearing – well suited to modern family life!
